Varningsignallen | 2006

The warning signal is a siren that was used during the World Wars to prepare citizens in the event of an air raid or attack. Though its use is less necessary in this day and age, there are still a handful of European and Scandinavian cities that upkeep the system. In other parts of the world it is used to forewarn the public in the event of imminent natural disasters such as tsunamis, tornadoes, or hurricanes. In Sweden, citizens are expected to go inside and tune in their radios to the national station to await information and instructions. Most people carry on with their affairs and are blasé to the sonic interruption. This short film observes the passive behavior of four individuals.
